Illinois Mineral Artist Jim Hutsler (b. 1969)

When artists and mineral collectors view minerals, their interpretations of what they see can be somewhat similar or vastly different. The impact of a mineral specimen's color, pattern, and symmetry can greatly influence its appeal to artists as well as collectors. Employing a camera lens instead of a brush and paint, Jim Hutsler captures the dynamic, beautiful, and even mysterious patterns and forms of minerals and fossils in his artistic photos.
