Apatite from Dolní Bory, Czech Republic

EASTERN BOHEMIA AND WESTERN MORAVIA are well known among mineral collectors for pegmatite deposits with excellent finds of quartz, schorl, feldspars, and other less common minerals connected with the abundant miarolitic cavities. Strážek Moldanubicum is the most famous region, with hundreds of already explored pegmatites and thousands of yet unexplored ones. Dolní Bory, a small village situated approximately in the center of this region, is the location of the most noteworthy deposit for this miarolitic mineralization, which has been known since the end of the nineteenth century.
