The Life and Collection of Eberhardt W. Heinrich

Like all major public mineral collections, that at the A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, was constructed by the cobbling together of many private collections and donations, large and small. Each of these mineral collections reflects the personality, interests, and circumstances of the person who built it, and, in turn, the character of the museum as a whole is influenced by the individuals who so generously contributed their specimens to the museum. Eberhardt “Abe” W. Heinrich's mineral collection was given to the A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum over a period of several years in the 1980s. The following is the story of the life of Professor Heinrich and his mineral collection.
