Spruce Ridge, King County, Washington: Evolution of a Great American Collecting Locality

“Fool's Gold.” Many prospectors have uttered those words in disgust, as the glittery substance they found was not what they sought. At Spruce Ridge, King County, high in Washington State's Cascade Range, pyrite is what we seek, in a dazzling array of crystal shapes and in spectacular combinations with quartz and barite. Our “Fool's Gold!” comes with an exclamation point.
