Scovil: Unpublished Favorites: 2011

In spite of spending two and one-half months in Europe in the summer, I did not do as much traveling in 2011 as in previous years—only 220 days on the road. I photographed 3,536 subjects, most of them minerals, of course, and traveled in only five countries: the United States, France, Germany, Austria, and Poland. Two of those weeks in Europe were very pleasantly spent being a tourist with Leslie Albin.

Jeffrey A. Scovil, a well-known professional mineral photographer, is the author of Photographing Minerals, Fossils, and Lapidary Materials (Geoscience Press, 1996). He is among those featured in The Grandmasters of Mineral Photography (Mineralogical Almanac, 2004).
